\nPESHAWAR
\nThe two-day international conference on \u201cInnovation in Computing Technologies and Information Sciences\u201d was inaugurated at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Peshawar, by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s Minister for Higher Education, Archives, and Libraries, Meena Khan Afridi. The conference has been organized by Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) UET Peshawar in collaboration with the Department of Computer Systems Engineering.
\nThe aim of the conference is to create awareness and promote the latest developments in the field of computing technologies and information sciences among academics, researchers, and professionals. UET Peshawar Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Qaiser Ali was also present at the opening ceremony.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Meena Khan Afridi welcomed the initiative and urged participants to make the most of such opportunities. He emphasized that the platform allows learning from experts and researchers from various fields, aligned with the needs of the modern international market.
\nHe stated that, in line with the vision of Imran Khan, the provincial government is prioritizing the inclusion of market-oriented subjects in the academic curriculum and is actively working on this front. Outdated subjects that do not align with contemporary needs are being phased out. He added that there is no lack of talent in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2014what\u2019s needed is the right environment to nurture it.
\nThe minister further noted that since the 18th Constitutional Amendment, governance in higher education has remained a challenge. However, the KP government has taken sustainable measures to address the challenges facing universities in the province. He expressed hope that by the year 2025\u201326, universities would achieve financial stability as a result of best strategic planning.
\nMinister emphasised that the promotion of higher education is essential to pull the country out of crises and stated that the government is implementing a rationalization policy in higher education. He also mentioned being in regular contact with stakeholders regarding the establishment of the Provincial Higher Education Commission and hoped the issue of appointing vice chancellors would soon be resolved effectively.
\nEarlier, Senior Dean, at UET Peshawar, Professor Rizwan Muhammad Gul, said in his address that the conference would offer valuable insights into innovation in computing technologies and information sciences, which would prove significant for academic research and professional growth.
\nThe event was also attended by Vice Chancellor of Iqra National University Peshawar Jehangir Durrani, Dr. Jamil Ahmad, Dr. Farzand Ali Khan, Dr. Yaseen Iqbal, UET Registrar Dr. Khizar Azam Khan, Professor Dr. Laiq Hassan, senior faculty members, and a large number of students.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
