\nOn the occasion of International Labour Day, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Labour Department organized a grand ceremony in Peshawar.
\nAccording to an official handout, the ceremony was attended by Secretary Workers Welfare Board Muhammad Tufail Khattak, Additional Secretary Labour Khaliq Dad, Director Labour Irfanullah, Vice Commissioner Employees Social Security Institution Khurshid Alam, Director Admin WWB Saifullah Zafar, workers union presidents, factory owners and workers\u2019 representatives, and workers in large numbers.
\nAddressing the ceremony, Secretary Workers Board Tufail Khattak said that today, Labour Day is being celebrated all over the world, which reminds us of the eternal sacrifices and struggle made by workers for their rights.
\nHe said that the role of workers is important in the country\u2019s economy and economic development and the Workers Welfare Board, Directorate of Labor and ESSI are working day and night for the welfare of the workers and are implementing reforms for the better life of the workers.
\nAddressing the ceremony, he said that this year so far, WWB has distributed Rs 7.2 million in the form of scholarships to the children of the workers, given Rs 1.3 million as dowry grant to 341 families and issued death grant to 44 families while sending 10 workers for free Hajj this year.
\nVice Commissioner Khursheed Alam told about the medical facilities provided to the workers in ESSI hospitals.
\nHe said that all medical facilities are available at one click in these hospitals through the Health Information Management System (HIMS). Additional Secretary Khaliq Dadane, in his address at the ceremony, said that the Directorate of Labor has taken good steps for the welfare of the workers.
\nA working group has been formed for child labor policy which will soon present its suggestions.
\nThe department has been digitized while workers are being redressed in labor courts. The labor representative Razam also addressed the ceremony and highlighted the problems of workers and the facilities provided to them by the government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
