{"id":476264,"date":"2025-05-04T09:46:53","date_gmt":"2025-05-04T04:46:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=476264"},"modified":"2025-05-04T09:46:53","modified_gmt":"2025-05-04T04:46:53","slug":"rcci-calls-for-immediate-interest-rate-cut-to-stimulate-industrial-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/rcci-calls-for-immediate-interest-rate-cut-to-stimulate-industrial-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"RCCI Calls for Immediate Interest Rate Cut to Stimulate Industrial Growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rawalpindi<br \/>\nThe Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) has urged the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to immediately reduce interest rates to single digits in a bid to stimulate industrial activity and drive sustainable economic growth.<br \/>\nRCCI President Usman Shaukat emphasized that the prevailing interest rate of 12% is significantly hampering business growth and must be lowered as the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) prepares to meet on May 5.<br \/>\n\u201cPakistan currently maintains the highest interest rate regime in the region,\u201d said Mr. Shaukat.<br \/>\n\u201cThis has made local industries uncompetitive and discouraged both domestic and foreign investment. We urge the MPC to take bold and decisive action by reducing the KIBOR to at least 10%, if not lower.\u201d<br \/>\nMr. Shaukat further highlighted that during recent high-level engagements between the Prime Minister\u2019s Office, the Ministry of Finance, and chambers of commerce, the business community strongly advocated for a reduction in the cost of doing business \u2014 particularly through interest rate cuts.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Prime Minister and Finance Minister have shown a positive and understanding attitude toward our concerns regarding the high interest rate environment,\u201d he stated.<br \/>\n\u201cThe government should now leverage this momentum and support the private sector by implementing concrete, growth-oriented measures \u2014 including lower interest rates, reduced utility tariffs, and improved logistics infrastructure,\u201d Mr. Shaukat added.<br \/>\nRCCI maintains that enabling policies are vital to unlocking Pakistan\u2019s industrial and export potential, creating jobs, and sustaining economic momentum.
