\nPublic Transport Association, Muttahida Transport Wagon Association, and Local Transport Association have jointly announced a protest demonstration to be held in front of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on Thursday, May 8, against the non-fulfillment of promises by the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) administration.
\nThe announcement was made during a meeting held at the General Bus Stand Peshawar, attended by key transport leaders, including Public Transport and Association President Rakhan Zaman Afridi, Muttahida Transport Wagon Association President Noor Muhammad Mohmand, and Local Transport Association President Yar Muhammad Afridi.
\nThe participants expressed frustration over the BRT administration and the Transport Department\u2019s reluctance to honor the agreed purchase of minibuses, wagons, and other hired vehicles previously operating on the BRT route.
\nThey claimed that only 10 percent of the promised vehicle purchases have been made, while the rest of the owners were still awaiting payment.
\nInstead of fulfilling its commitment, the transporters alleged, the authorities have intensified operations against their vehicles by issuing challans, imposing heavy fines, and even seizing vehicles through traffic police.
\nThe associations warned that if the BRT administration did not not release the pending payments and fulfill its agreement, they will halt public transport operations on BRT routes and escalate their protest campaign.
\nThey held the BRT administration, Transport Department, and the provincial government responsible for the situation and said that continued inaction would result in intensified demonstrations and disruption of transport services across the city.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
