\nAdvisor to the KP Chief Minister on finance Muzzammil Aslam has said that a surplus budget of Rs 180 billion will be achieved in the current fiscal year, whereas the province had set a target of a Rs 100 billion surplus budget.
\nMaking a budget is easy, but implementing it properly and managing it well is a difficult task.
\nThese views were expressed by Advisor to the KP Chief Minister on Finance and Inter-Provincial Coordination Advisor Muzzammil Aslam while addressing the pre-budget consultative session 2025-26 held at a private hotel in Peshawar, organized by SNG, UK International Development, and Oxford Policy Management.
\nIn his address, KP Finance Advisor Muzzammil Aslam said that Rs 65 billion were spent monthly on salaries and pensions of government employees, while over 700,000 employees are working. Muzammil Aslam said that until current expenditures are reduced, large development projects cannot be initiated because the province\u2019s current expenditures are too high.
\nHe said that jobs are provided by the private sector, while the government delivers services.
\nFinance Advisor Muzzammil Aslam said that the current provincial government has significantly increased tax and non-tax revenue, and the KP Revenue Authority has performed excellently by collecting more revenue than its target, for which a great deal of credit goes to KPRA Director General Fauzia Iqbal.
\nMuzammil Aslam said that women empowerment is very important, but he does not strongly believe in the quota system, while women should be given equal opportunities and should also participate in the general elections.
\nThe event was attended by the Finance Secretary, Additional Secretary Finance, Additional Secretary Finance, Dr. Sumaira Shams, Rakhshanda Naz, SNG Advisor Waqas Paracha, along with officers from various departments and representatives from civil society.
\nAt the event, SNG Advisor Waqas Paracha gave a detailed presentation to the participants and explained the objectives of the consultative session.
