\nOut of 60 government girls\u2019 schools, 23 are non-functioned in tehsil Landi Kotal due to absence and lack of female teachers, dwellers of the area said.
\nLocals informed that eight and six girls\u2019 schools closed in Loy-Shelman and Kum-Shelman respectively while five of them were suspended in Landi Kotal.
\nIn the same way four female schools shut in the Bazaar Zakha Khel area of Landi Kotal.
\nVice-Chairman Village Council, Pased Khel Shah Was Khan said that since March their girls\u2019 school was remained closed and approximately 465 girls had been deprived of education.
\nRatio of female education in tribal society was already unsatisfactory, he added and said the prevailed poor condition of the girls schools further dismayed the parents who were determined to decorate their female inherit with education.
\nTransfer and posting on political bases in the education department was the main cause of devastation of the department, he remarked.
\nHe urged the parliamentarians of the constituency to play their due role to refunction the girls\u2019 schools so that they could also become the useful citizens of the country.
\nSome of the property owners of the schools said that because of prolonged absence of teaching staff, they permanently locked the schools.
\nOn the condition of anonymity , an official in the District Education Office said that the unavailability of female staff locally, most of the females posted in the schools were out of Khyber who did not join their duties regularly.
\nHe suggested that if relaxation was granted to the local females in Educational Testing and Evaluation Authority (ETEA) test, the education department would avail services of the female locally.
\nThe issue of lack of female staff had been resolved previously through PTC funds by hiring local female staff but ironically the fund was suspended that suffered the female education in the area, he added. When Assistant District Education Officer (female) Landi Kotal was contacted on the matter she said that one each female volunteer teacher on daily wage (Rs. 7000 per month) had been deployed in 23 girls schools while one teacher each posted in 13 girls schools in tehsil Landi Kotal to keep the institutions functional.
