\nTwo senior members of Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada\u2019s team were killed in a targeted attack in a central part of the capital, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed on Tuesday.
\nSpeaking during her daily press conference, President Sheinbaum said those believed to be responsible were riding a motorcycle at the time of the assault.
\n\u201cIt is a deplorable incident, and we are going to give all the support that the mayor may need,\u201d she stated, condemning the violence. The victims have been identified as Ximena Guzm\u00e1n, Mayor Brugada\u2019s private secretary, and Jos\u00e9 Mu\u00f1oz, a political adviser.
\nIn a statement shared by Mayor Brugada on social media platform X, the Mexico City government vowed swift justice: \u201cThere will be no impunity. Those responsible will be arrested and must face justice.\u201d
