\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation, Aqibullah Khan, accompanied by Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam Advocate, on Monday paid a detailed visit to the under-construction Zameer Gul Dam in the remote area of Ziarat Sheikh Allah Dad, Kohat.
\nDuring the visit, the Irrigation Minister expressed strong dissatisfaction over the delay in the project\u2019s completion. He issued a firm directive to the concerned authorities to ensure the dam is completed by June 2025, stating unequivocally that even a single day\u2019s extension beyond the deadline would not be tolerated.
\nDuring the briefing, he was informed that the Zameer Gul Dam along with the canal network is being constructed at Pallah Khor at a cost of about Rs 135 Million, which will be completed by June 2025 and water supply for irrigation purposes will also be started.
\nThe Dam has a storage capacity of 7971 acre feet of water and 27.43 km of the 41 km long canal has been completed, which will irrigate 3,535 acres of barren land. Its spillway discharge will be 34161 cusecs while the outlet structure discharge is 18 cusecs.
\nHe said that the CM has a program to bring millions of acres of barren land of the province under cultivation through small dams to achieve food autarky.
\nHe said that the construction of maximum dams will bring about a green revolution in the province, a new era of development and prosperity will ushr and the lives of the common people will improve.
\nAqibullah said that the pace of work on dams has been accelerated across the province and necessary funds have also been released.
\nEarlier, the Minister inspected the ongoing work on the dam, its spillway and canal system and issued instructions to complete it in time without compromising on the quality of the work.
\nLater, the Irrigation Minister, along with the Provincial Law Minister Aftab Alam and Members of the Assembly Shafi Jan and Daud Afridi, also inspected the raising work at Tanda Dam, Kohat and directed to complete it on time.
\nThe Irrigation Minister ordered the department officials to immediately issue notices to the concerned people to remove the drainage connections from the canals and said, if the notices are not implemented, regular FIRs should be registered against them.
\nDuring the briefing at Tanda Dam, he was told that the water storage capacity of the dam has been increased from 49,000 to 72,000 acre feet through 4-meter raising, while work is also underway on improving the canal system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
