\nPESHAWAR
\nParticipatory Rural Development Society (PRDS) under its Multi Year Resilience Program (MYRP) completed the distribution of assistive devices among 600 handicapped and physically impaired students of government schools in Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda districts , enabling these children to get education without any hindrance.
\nAssistive devices including wheelchairs, walking sticks\/stands, eye glasses and hearing aid devices were distributed among the most vulnerable 600 students of state-run schools with the support of \u201cVSO International\u201d and ECW. In this regard distribution ceremonies were held at different schools of Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda, wherein after proper medical check-up and screening, students were handed over these assistive devices with the support of Elementary and Secondary Education KP.
\nTalking to the media persons, Program Manager MYRP , Mr. Tariq Hayat Yousafzai said that a lot of special and unprivileged students struggle to get a good education. Their parents might not have enough money to support these children and provide them assistive devices to cater their needs, thus many disabled students leave their education incomplete, because of certain physical inabilities like weakness in eyesight, hearing issues or other major\/minor physical disabilities.
\nHe said that wheelchairs and equipments were distributed among the physically challenged 335 female and 269 male students to encourage them for education, since they deserve the needful support and attention, which will not only enable them to continue their academic activities, but will also help reduce the effects of social deprivation in them.
\nTariq Hayat further said that access to equitable and quality education is the basic right of every child and hundreds of poor and underprivileged children are getting benefit of VSO\u2019s initiatives. Education officials and beneficiary students also appreciated this initiative and expressed hope that PRDS and VSO will extend the program to other districts of the province as well.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
