\nOfficials from the health department on Thursday informed a committee of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly that no objection certificate (NOC) had been submitted to the Public Service Commission (PSC) for the recruitment of 600 doctors to fill vacant positions across the province.
\nAccording to an official statement, the Standing Committee on Health convened an important meeting to discuss the health initiatives taken by the provincial government.
\nMPA Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani chairs the meeting and was attended by MPAs Taj Muhammad, Sobia Shahid, Asma Alam, Shehla Bano, Ijaz Muhammad, Zar Alam, and senior officials from the provincial health department.
\nThe main agenda was a detailed briefing by the health department on the \u201cPreparation of Rules and Regulations Required under the Law.\u201d The committee also reviewed the shortage of medical equipment at Timergara Medical College. Members expressed concern over the quality of the existing equipment and the overall condition of the hospital.
\nThey called for urgent steps to improve infrastructure and medical supplies.
\nAnother key issue raised was the long-pending upgradation of Lady Health Workers (LHWs), with committee members recommending that the matter be brought before the assembly again.
\nIn addition, a detailed discussion was held on the regularization of medical staff hired in tribal districts under Annual Development Programme (ADP) schemes.
\nThe committee was also briefed on major health initiatives, including tuberculosis (TB) control and malaria prevention programs currently underway in the province.
\nChairman Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani reiterated the government\u2019s commitment to providing quality healthcare to all citizens. \u201cEnsuring accessible and effective medical facilities is a top priority, and all relevant institutions are working in close coordination to address existing challenges,\u201d he said.
