\nParaplegic Center Peshawar (PCP) in collaboration with MiracleFeet, successfully organized a two-day Advanced Clubfoot Treatment (ACT) training course aimed at treating children born with congenital foot deformities (clubfoot).
\nA PCP statement on Sunday said the training was held at the Seminar Hall of the Center\u2019s main campus, College of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (CPMR).
\nThe objective of this specialized training program was to provide advanced know how in the Ponseti method, which is globally recognized as the most effective and low-cost treatment for clubfoot.
\nThis non-surgical technique gradually corrects foot deformities through specific casting and bracing methods. Active parental involvement and consistent follow-up are vital components of the treatment process.
\nThe 2-day session was attended by orthopedic surgeons, physiotherapists and clubfoot clinic specialists from across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well as from Islamabad and Muzaffarabad. Training was conducted by Paraplegic Center experts Dr. Fahad Jamil, Dr. Ijaz Ahmad and Dr. Khukla Imtiaz, under the overall supervision of Director Rehabilitation and Program Coordinator Dr. Amir Zaib.
\nThe trainers provided hands-on training and emphasized effective patient communication, parental counseling and modern follow-up protocols.
\nAddressing the closing ceremony, Chief Executive of Paraplegic Center Peshawar, Dr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas, stated that the Center is committed to eradicating the painful yet treatable condition of clubfoot.
\n\u201cOur mission is to ensure that not only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but throughout the country, no child is left without timely and quality treatment,\u201d he said. Dr. Ilyas announced that, in addition to existing active clinics, the program is being expanded to other provinces and cities, with new clubfoot clinics being established in Gilgit and Bannu to provide accessible treatment for children in remote areas.
\nHe reiterated that reaching all affected children and their families, offering guidance and ensuring complete treatment remains the Center\u2019s top priority.
\nProgram Coordinator Dr. Aamir Zaib highlighted that the initiative not only enhanced the expertise of healthcare professionals but also strengthened inter-provincial collaboration, laying the foundation for a unified and effective treatment network.
