\nThe victims of Regi Model Town have urged the provincial government to resolve their long-standing issues, which remain unaddressed even during the third consecutive term of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nThe affected residents demanded that the upcoming provincial budget include specific allocations for Regi Model Town, and that plots be allotted to all those who were promised them.
\nSpeaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club (PPC) here on Thursday, Sirajul Haq Yousafzai, President of the Regi Model Town Victims Committee, alongside fellow members, expressed frustration over what they termed as 12 years of neglect. \u201cOur concerns have been ignored under the guise of meetings and assurances. It\u2019s time for real action,\u201d he said.
\nThe victims announced a protest outside Adiala Jail on July 19 to draw the attention of PTI founder Imran Khan to their plight.
\nIf their demands remain unmet, they plan to begin daily sit-ins outside the Peshawar Development Authority (PDA) office from 8 AM to 12 PM.
\nYousafzai also announced plans to lodge an FIR against the PDA Director General at Regi Police Station, blaming the official for exacerbating the issue.
\nHe noted that a former female Director General had made significant progress, but that momentum has since been lost under the current leadership.
\nHe further alleged that Koki Khel tribes people have encroached upon nearly 80% of the land in Zone 5, originally allotted for the children of police martyrs. \u201cNow, there is no land left for the families of our fallen heroes,\u201d he lamented.
