PESHAWAR
\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s Minister for Law, Advocate Aftab Alam, has commended the allocation for Law department in the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2025\u201326.
\nHe stated that this budget reflects the government\u2019s commitment to improving access to justice and strengthening the legal framework in the province.
\nIn his statement on Sunday the minister said, a total of Rs. 6,460.661 million has been allocated for the Law and Justice sector. This allocation covers 42 projects, out of which 32 are ongoing and 10 are new.
\nThe Minister informed that Rs. 5,866.329 million has been allocated for ongoing projects, while Rs. 594.332 million has been set aside for new projects. This funding aims to facilitate easier access to justice, modernize the judicial system, and enhance the capacity of legal institutions.
\nHe further stated that 20 projects are near completion, including 18 ongoing and 2 new projects. According to the budget documents, several key projects have been proposed for the fiscal year 2025\u201326. These include the construction of judicial complexes, establishment of district-based resource centers, and initiatives related to the office of the Ombudsperson to address discrimination and workplace harassment. Among the ongoing projects, an initiative to expand the jurisdiction of the Ombudsperson Secretariat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for protecting women against harassment is also included.
\nOther initiatives include the construction and renovation of judicial complexes and residences in various districts, enhancement of the High Court\u2019s capacity, and overall improvement of the legal infrastructure.
\nMajor ongoing projects under the Accelerated Implementation Program (AIP) include the construction of 7 district judicial complexes and 25 tehsil-level judicial complexes. Among the new projects are the operationalization of reconciliation councils across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the provision of residential facilities for the judiciary and court staff in three districts.
\nAdditionally, Rs. 100.000 million has been allocated for the Integrated Legal and Human Rights Support Program (ILHRSP). Under the Accelerated Implementation Program, a new project has also been included for the establishment of resource centers at the district level in the newly merged districts, with an allocation of Rs. 10.500 million.
\nMinister for Law Aftab Alam Advocate affirmed that these projects will not only enable timely justice delivery but will also play a vital role in modernizing judicial infrastructure and increasing the efficiency of legal departments.
