\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa government is working rapidly on ongoing energy projects with its own resources, several of which have entered the final stages of completion, which will prove helpful in stabilizing the province\u2019s economy and developing the industrial sector in the future.
\nThese views were expressed by Special Assistant to CM KP on energy Engr.Tariq Sadozai and Secretary Energy and Power Muhammad Zubair Khan while presiding over a review meeting held at PEDO house to review the progress of ongoing energy projects.
\nIn addition to this, 2 projects having 53-megawatt capacity will be completed this year, from which the province is expected to earn an annual income of more than Rs 2.4 billion from the electricity generated, he added.
\nSimilarly, the 84 MW Gorkin Matiltan Hydropower Project in Swat district will also be completed and power generation will start next year. Along with the hydropower projects, practical work will also be started soon on the project to provide free solar systems to millions of poor families to provide immediate relief to the people.
\nA very important institution like PEDO will be made into a developed institution in the province with the support of experts under teamwork and the highest annual revenue generating institution of billions of rupees.
\nMeanwhile, giving a briefing, Chief Executive PEDO Irfanullah Khan said that work is currently underway on several energy projects including hydro, solar power and transmission lines under the supervision of this office.
\nThe CEO further added that the province has successfully completed eight hydroelectric projects, generating a total capacity of 172 MW of electricity, generating an annual revenue of more than Rs. 5 billion for the province.
\nMeanwhile, work is underway on 12 projects, including 300 MW Balakot Mansehra, 157 MW Madin Swat, 88 MW Gabral Kalam, 84 MW Mittaltan Swat, 69 MW Lawi Chitral, 40.8 MW Kotodir, 11.8 MW Karora Shangla, 10.5 MW Chapri Charkhel Kurram and 6.9 MW Mujahideen Power Project Torghar, which will generate a total of 778 MW of electricity and the province will have an annual revenue of more than 45 billion rupees.
\nIrfanullah had clarified that most of the ongoing energy projects are in the final stages of completion. This year, the 40.8 MW Koto HPP, Dir District and the Karora HPP at Shangla will be completed and electricity production will begin. In the meeting, Special Assistant CM Tariq Sadozai and Secretary E&P Zubair Khan issued strict instructions to project directors and officials to complete the ongoing projects within the stipulated timelines and that any further delay would be intolerable.
\nSecretary Energy Zubair Khan issued strict instructions to authorities to immediately start practical working on the project to provide free solar systems to 130,000 families and to further accelerate the work on the project to construct a transmission line on the Swat corridor so that the people can soon benefit from the development projects of public interest.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
