\nThe provincial government has earmarked Rs 4,078 million in the provincial budget for development projects in the Livestock and Fisheries Department, with a special emphasis on the uplift of merged districts.
\nProvincial Minister for Livestock, Fisheries & Cooperatives, Fazal Hakeem Khan Yousafzai, announced the allocations, stating that the welfare of livestock farmers and the sustainable growth of the sector remain top priorities for the government.
\nHe noted that these initiatives are being launched in line with the vision of PTI founder Imran Khan and under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur.
\n\u201cThese projects are aimed at improving the livelihoods of cattle farmers, while significantly increasing meat and milk production across both settled and merged districts,\u201d the minister said.
\nThe minister shared that Rs 250 million has been set aside for a comprehensive survey and assessment to support the development of poultry breeders and hatcheries.
\nRs 300 million has been allocated for the promotion of fish farming and aquaculture in the merged districts and Rs 500 million will go towards establishing horse breeding facilities across KP.
\n\u201cRs 300 million is designated for a poverty alleviation initiative focused on enhanced milk and meat production in merged districts,\u201d he said and added that the government in the budget allocated Rs 630 million for healthy cattle breeding programs and the procurement of vaccines to combat Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) and Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD).
