\nAdviser to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations, Barrister Dr. Saif, has urgently called on the federal government to immediately release the remaining Rs 267 billion allocated under the NFC Award for the merged districts during the financial year 2024-25.
\nIn a statement issued from his office, Barrister Dr. Saif highlighted that although Rs 350 billion was allocated for the merged districts, the province has only received Rs 83 billion over the past 10 months, leaving a deficit of Rs 267 billion.
\nHe criticized the federation for repeatedly using delaying tactics, which are severely impacting the ongoing development projects in these districts.
\n\u201cThese funds are not just financial assistance but also a commitment made to the people of these areas. The development of the merged districts and their integration into the national mainstream is a collective responsibility,\u201d said Barrister Dr. Saif.
\nHe emphasized that the merger of FATA with KP was a historic step aimed at addressing the long-standing deprivation in these areas. However, he expressed concern that the federal government\u2019s lack of sincerity is undermining this critical national process.
\n\u201cThe non-provision of funds is not only stalling development efforts but is also harming ongoing initiatives against terrorism. Without development projects, it is impossible to combat extremism,\u201d he stated.
\nBarrister Dr. Saif also stressed that the main objective of the merger was to bring the tribal districts at par with the rest of the province. Unfortunately, due to the federal government\u2019s neglect, these areas continue to face significant deprivation.
\nHe further demanded that the federal government act swiftly and transfer all pending funds so that development can proceed on schedule and the legitimate rights of the people in these districts can be fulfilled.
\n\u201cIf the federal government is serious about eliminating terrorism, it must immediately release the due funds to the merged districts. The continuous withholding of funds is detrimental to both development and peace efforts,\u201d he added.
\nIn a final remark, Barrister Dr. Saif urged the federation to stop treating KP, and especially the merged districts, with indifference. He called for the urgent release of funds to address the region\u2019s ongoing challenges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
