\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif on Friday said that Rescue operations were in full swing across flood-affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), with Rescue 1122, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Civil Defense, and local district administrations working in coordination.
\nIn an official statement Barrister Saif confirmed that Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was personally overseeing the rescue and relief efforts.
\n\u201cOver 60 people have been rescued from various locations affected by flash floods. One of the most tragic incidents occurred on the Mingora Bypass, where more than 10 people have been confirmed dead. Rescue Station 11 teams remain on-site, actively searching for those still missing,\u201d he added. Barrister Saif shared that in Angro Dherai, Mingora, three bodies were recovered by Rescue Station 11 personnel while in Imam Dherai, over 22 individuals who were trapped in rising floodwaters were safely evacuated.
\nOne fatality was reported in Ghaligay, where seven people were stranded. Rescue operations also continue in Manyar, Panjigram, and Bara Bama Khela Matta, where more than 20 people have been rescued so far, he said.
\nKP government spokesperson maintained that Rescue 1122 teams in Swat were operating around the clock and he urged the citizens to avoid flood-affected areas and to immediately contact Rescue 1122 or PDMA\u2019s emergency control number (1700) in case of emergencies.
\nBarrister Saif also revealed that the water level in the Swat River at Khwaza Khela has reached a dangerous 77,782 cusecs. In response, a flood cell has been established on the directives of the Chief Minister. The district administrations of Charsadda and Nowshera have been put on high alert, with all concerned departments directed to take urgent precautionary measures to safeguard human lives, property, crops, and livestock.
\nThe Chief Minister has instructed the Relief Department, PDMA, Rescue 1122, and Civil Defense to maintain high alert, especially in low-lying and vulnerable areas, Saif added.
