\nMian Zahid Hussain warned that the Modi-led Indian government\u2019s pursuit of unrest, economic imbalance, and political disorder in South Asia is not just a sinister agenda, but a potential catastrophe in the making. The consequences of such actions could be disastrous, he emphasized.
\nIn a discussion with the business community, the veteran business leader stated that the recent United Nations statement, which underscored the critical importance of equitable distribution of natural resources in line with mutual agreements, is a significant development in the context of India\u2019s water weaponization.
\nThe business leader stressed that the United Nations must move beyond symbolic remarks and exert immediate and meaningful diplomatic pressure on India to stop violating the Indus Waters Treaty and refrain from actions that escalate tensions in the region. He added that India\u2019s move to suspend the treaty and threaten to divert Pakistan\u2019s rightful share of water to Rajasthan is a provocative and hostile act.
\nIt not only breaches international agreements but also endangers regional security, agriculture, industry, and ecological stability, which could have far-reaching implications for the global business community.
\nMian Zahid highlighted that the Modi government has been consistently defying UN resolutions on Kashmir. Grave human rights abuses, enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and prolonged curfews expose India\u2019s real agenda. Now, India has begun treating access to water \u2014 a fundamental human right \u2014 as a political weapon, which is a dangerous and deplorable development.
\nHe made it clear that Pakistan has stated unequivocally that it will not tolerate any injustice, coercion, or exploitation regarding water rights. However, India continues to display a stubborn attitude. He warned that the world cannot afford a confrontation between two nuclear powers.
\nIf India is not restrained through global pressure, this course of action could drag the entire region into a cycle of destruction, famine, and conflict.
\nMian Zahid further emphasized that Pakistan has always stood for peace but will never compromise on its sovereignty, survival, or resources. Pakistan will not allow the exploitation of millions of its farmers. The country has a proud history of defending its land and rights with courage, and it will continue to take every possible step to secure its share of water.
\nHe urged the international community to recognize that using or threatening to withhold water as a weapon crosses a dangerous red line for global peace, progress, and humanity.
