LAHORE
\nPrime Minister\u2019s Youth Programme (PMYP) Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said on Saturday that mission of empowering the youth is underway, while the largest youth loan programme in the country\u2019s history has also been launched.
\nHe stated this while addressing as the chief guest at the PITAA\u2013LCCI meet-up, organised jointly by the Pakistan Information Technology Academic Association (PITAA) here at and Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). A large number of business community members including LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad, Vice President Shahid Nazir Chaudhry and PITAA Chairman Wahab Younis attended the event.
\nRana Mashhood said, under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, opportunities are being provided to the youth in various fields, asserting that empowering the youth is one of the government\u2019s priorities. He said, there is a lot of talent among the young generation of Pakistan, the youth are proving their mettle in IT and sports.
\nThe chairman mentioned that scholarships are being given to the youth through the Youth Hub portal, besides providing them with facilities in the online earning sector. \u201cYouth are the bright future of Pakistan and their welfare, technical training and employment are among the top priorities of the government,\u201d he said.
\nThe government is working on the target of increasing IT exports up to $25 billion, he said and added that currently, more than 800,000 youth are earning livelihood in a respectable manner abroad, while the government wanted to take this figure to 1.5 million this year. Along with this, he also announced the organization of Pakistan\u2019s first \u201cYouth Games\u201d in December to attract the youth towards healthy activities.
\nThe PMYP Chairman praised the role of youths during \u201cOperation Banyan Al-Marsoos\u201d and said that their defense capabilities raised the prestige of Pakistan worldwide.
\nReacting strongly to India\u2019s anti-Pakistan activities, he warned that if India tries to block Pakistan\u2019s water, it would have to face serious consequences.
\nAbout the federal budget for financial year 2025-26, he termed the budget as balanced and people-friendly, assuring that more relief would be provided to the people next year.
\nHe was confident that the government would get rid of the IMF in next two years.
\nDescribing the business community as the backbone of the country\u2019s economy, Rana Mashhood said that their legitimate demands would be met through consultation.
\nAddressing the ceremony, Chairman IT Academic Association Wahab Younis requested for cooperation in joining NewTech projects so that the youth can be made employable by teaching them modern skills.
