{"id":488531,"date":"2025-07-05T09:11:51","date_gmt":"2025-07-05T04:11:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=488531"},"modified":"2025-07-05T09:11:51","modified_gmt":"2025-07-05T04:11:51","slug":"czech-mountaineer-kolouchova-dies-during-nanga-parbat-expedition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/czech-mountaineer-kolouchova-dies-during-nanga-parbat-expedition\/","title":{"rendered":"Czech mountaineer Kolouchov\u00e1 dies during Nanga Parbat expedition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> ISLAMABAD<br \/>\nThe mountaineering community in Pakistan and around the globe is mourning the tragic loss of renowned Czech climber Kl\u00e1ra Kolouchov\u00e1, who died during her expedition on Nanga Parbat (8,125 meters) in the early hours of Thursday.<br \/>\nAccording to Karrar Haidri, Vice President of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, Kolouchov\u00e1, 46, reportedly fell between Camp I and Camp II, possibly due to an oxygen cylinder explosion. \u201cThe unfortunate incident took place at around 4:00 am near Bunar Base Camp in the Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan,\u201d he confirmed.<br \/>\nRescue teams and local authorities were promptly informed and have launched recovery operations to retrieve her body from the fall site, Haidri said. Kolouchov\u00e1 was a highly accomplished mountaineer, globally recognized as the first Czech woman to summit both Mount Everest and K2.<br \/>\nShe had arrived in Pakistan on June 15 to attempt Nanga Parbat and was accompanied by her husband and a team of five members. \u201cThis is a tragic loss not only for her family and team but for the entire international climbing fraternity,\u201d Haidri said.<br \/>\n\u201cShe was an inspiration for many and her contributions to high-altitude mountaineering will always be remembered.\u201d The Alpine Club of Pakistan expressed its deepest condolences to Kolouchov\u00e1\u2019s family and the Czech mountaineering community.<br \/>\nNanga Parbat, known as the \u201cKiller Mountain,\u201d is the ninth highest peak in the world and has historically posed significant challenges to climbers due to its treacherous terrain and unpredictable weather.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ISLAMABAD The mountaineering community in Pakistan and around the globe is mourning the tragic loss of renowned Czech climber Kl\u00e1ra Kolouchov\u00e1, who died during her expedition on Nanga Parbat (8,125 meters) in the early hours of Thursday.
