\nUS President Donald Trump has said that countries aligning themselves with the \u201cAnti-American policies\u201d of Brics, will be charged an additional 10% tariff. \u201cAny Country aligning themselves with the Anti-American policies of BRICS, will be charged an ADDITIONAL 10% Tariff. There will be no exceptions to this policy.
\nThank you for your attention to this matter!\u201d Trump said in a post on Truth Social. Trump did not clarify or expand on the \u201cAnti-American policies\u201d reference in his post. The original Brics group gathered leaders from Brazil, Russia, India and China at its first summit in 2009. The bloc later added South Africa and last year included Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia as members.
\nBrics leaders at a summit on Sunday took aim at US President Donald Trump\u2019s \u201cindiscriminate\u201d import tariffs.The 11 emerging nations \u2014 including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa \u2014 account for about half the world\u2019s population and 40% of global economic output.

In April, Trump threatened allies and rivals alike with a slew of punitive duties, before offering a months-long reprieve in the face of a fierce market sell-off.
\nTrump has now warned he will impose unilateral levies on partners unless they reach \u201cdeals\u201d by August 1.In an apparent concession to US allies, the summit declaration did not criticise the United States or its president by name at any point.
\nConceived two decades ago as a forum for fast-growing economies, the Brics have come to be seen as a Chinese-driven counterbalance to US and western European power.
\nBut as the group has expanded to include Iran, Saudi Arabia and others, it has struggled to reach meaningful consensus on issues such as US global dominance. Brics nations, for example, collectively called for a peaceful two-state solution to the Israel-Palestinian conflict \u2014 despite Tehran\u2019s long-standing position that Israel should be destroyed.
\nAn Iranian diplomatic source said his government\u2019s \u201creservations\u201d had been conveyed to Brazilian hosts. Still, Iran stopped short of rejecting the statement outright.
\nChina opposes tariffs being used as a tool to coerce others, the Chinese foreign ministry said on Monday, after US President Donald Trump threatened an extra 10% tariffs on countries aligning themselves with the Brics group of developing nations.
