\nJamaat-e-Islami (JI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa North Ameer Inayatullah Khan has strongly opposed any new system or proposed military operations in the merged tribal districts, warning that any attempt to reverse the merger or bypass constitutional procedures will be met with strong resistance.
\nSpeaking at a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club alongside Abdul Wasi, Ameer of JI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Central, Inayatullah Khan said that federal jirgas aiming to undo the merger of FATA and reintroduce the old system are a direct violation of the Constitution. He warned that such efforts would deepen the existing distrust and despair among tribal communities.
\nHe criticized the federal government for what he termed interference in provincial autonomy and denounced any planned military operation in the region. \u201cEvery military operation in the tribal belt has only brought suffering,\u201d he said, citing former President Pervez Musharraf\u2019s operations as a \u201chistoric blunder\u201d that failed to benefit the federation.
\n\u201cThe people of the merged districts were shown beautiful dreams in 2018, but none of them have materialized,\u201d Inayatullah Khan said. \u201cMore than 1,500 schools destroyed during terrorism remain in ruins, the health system is crumbling, and no real police or judicial reforms have been implemented.\u201d
\nHe demanded that the federal government immediately announce a Rs 1,000 billion development package for the tribal districts and ensure their rightful share in the NFC award, which he claimed the provincial government is currently denying.
\nInayatullah Khan also criticized the KP government\u2019s allocation of Rs 42 billion under ADP in the provincial budget, calling it \u201ca deception\u201d as the funds could be diverted elsewhere.
\nTo address these growing concerns, he announced that Jamaat-e-Islami will host an All-Party Conference at Markaz-e-Islami on July 29, aimed at building consensus on peace and development in the merged areas.
\nHe also expressed concern over what he described as attempts to hand over KP\u2019s mines and minerals to foreign entities, vowing that JI would strongly oppose any such move.
