\nAt least 798 people have been killed in Gaza since late May while attempting to receive food aid, the United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) said.
\n\u201cUp until the seventh of July, we\u2019ve recorded now 798 killings, including 615 in the vicinity of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation sites, and 183 presumably on the route of aid convoys,\u201d OHCHR spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani told reporters in Geneva, according to Reuters.
\nMeanwhile, at least eight Palestinians were killed on Friday in an Israeli air strike on a school sheltering displaced families in northern Gaza, said local medical sources.
\nThe strike targeted the school in an area where many civilians had sought refuge from ongoing military operations, according to Al Jazeera Arabic. The report, citing a source at Al-Shifa Hospital, added that several others were wounded in the attack.
\nUNRWA calls Gaza \u2018graveyard of children and starving people\u2019
\nThe UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) has described Gaza as a \u201cgraveyard of children and starving people,\u201d highlighting the dire humanitarian situation.
\nIn a post on social media platform X, UNRWA said, \u201cNo way out. Their choice is between two deaths: starvation or being shot at.\u201d
\nThe agency condemned what it called a \u201ccruel and Machiavellian scheme\u201d killing Palestinians and warned that \u201cour norms and values are being buried.\u201d
\nUNRWA urged urgent action, stating, \u201cInaction will bring more chaos. Time to act is overdue.\u201d
\nCeasefire talks
\nIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has, for the first time, publicly stated that Israel is seeking an end to the war in Gaza \u2014 but only under conditions set by Israel, Al Jazeera reported.
\nSpeaking in Washington, Netanyahu said Israel is prepared to enter a 60-day temporary ceasefire and begin negotiations for a permanent resolution. However, he listed three \u201cminimal requirements\u201d for any lasting end to the conflict.
\nThese include a complete disarmament of Hamas, the group\u2019s full military and political dismantlement, and its removal from any future role in Gaza.
\nNetanyahu warned that if Israel\u2019s demands are not met during the ceasefire period, military operations would resume. \u201cOne way or another, Israel is going to achieve its objectives,\u201d he said.
\nMSF evacuates Gaza clinic as Israeli forces advance in Khan Younis
\nDoctors Without Borders (MSF) said on Wednesday it was forced to evacuate one of its clinics in western Khan Younis and suspend operations at another, as Israeli forces advanced into the densely populated area of southern Gaza.
