\nPrime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday described Iran as a \u201ctrue friend of Pakistan\u201d and vowed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in multiple sectors including trade, energy, security, and regional peace.
\nHe made these remarks during a joint press stakeout alongside Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian following the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
\nThe two leaders engaged in wide-ranging discussions on mutual interests, regional challenges, and the way forward in building lasting peace and prosperity.
\nThe Prime Minister lauded Iran\u2019s principled stance on international issues, particularly its unwavering support for the oppressed people of Gaza and Kashmir. Condemning Israeli aggression in Gaza, Prime Minister Shehbaz said, \u201cThe world must open its eyes to the genocide taking place in Gaza.
\nInnocent children, women, and civilians are being killed. Pakistan stands firmly with the Palestinian people in this time of crisis.\u201d He appreciated Iran\u2019s strong voice against Israeli atrocities, saying Iran\u2019s support on Palestine reflects its moral clarity and commitment to justice.
\nOn the ongoing situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), the Prime Minister said Pakistan will never remain silent over the suffering of the Kashmiri people.
\n\u201cWe highly value Iran\u2019s consistent support for the Kashmir cause and acknowledge its strong position against Indian atrocities,\u201d he added. Shehbaz Sharif also reaffirmed Pakistan\u2019s support for Iran\u2019s right to pursue peaceful nuclear technology.
\n\u201cIran has every right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. Pakistan supports Iran on this issue at international forums,\u201d he stated, adding that cooperation and dialogue must prevail over confrontation.
\nEchoing these sentiments, Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian said, \u201cUnity is strength. The Muslim world must unite to overcome the challenges it faces.\u201d
\nQuoting Allama Iqbal, he highlighted the importance of solidarity among Muslim nations and expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its consistent support against Israeli aggression. Dr. Pezeshkian emphasized the need for greater regional connectivity and proposed enhancing rail and trade links between Iran and Pakistan.
\n\u201cStronger transport and economic ties will benefit both our peoples,\u201d he said. He also suggested the launch of new infrastructure and energy projects to further integrate the two economies.
\nSecurity cooperation remained a key part of the dialogue, with both leaders pledging to intensify efforts to eliminate terrorism. \u201cTerrorism in all its forms and manifestations must be eradicated. Both countries will coordinate more closely, especially in securing our shared border,\u201d stated Prime Minister Shehbaz.
\nPresident Pezeshkian echoed the commitment to border security and peace, noting that the safety of citizens and stability of the region must remain a top priority.
\nThe visit, marked by warmth and mutual respect, reflected the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and religious ties between Pakistan and Iran.
