\nThe force suffers greatest losses during 2008-2009 war on terror, says report

\nOn the eve of Police Martyrs\u2019 Day 2025, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police released a detailed report honoring 2,330 officers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty from 1970 to 2025.
\nThe official statistics provide a year-by-year breakdown of the brave officers who laid down their lives, particularly in the war against terrorism, showcasing their unwavering commitment to protecting the province and the nation.
\nFrontier Constables (FC) bore the brunt of these sacrifices, with 1,649 officers martyred over the past 55 years, as per the data. Head Constables (HC) accounted for 295 fatalities, while 157 Sub Inspectors (SI) also lost their lives. The report further honors 23 Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP), 49 Inspectors, and officers of senior ranks including Additional Inspector General (IG), Deputy Inspector General (DIG), and Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) among the martyrs.
\nThe highest toll was recorded during the war on terrorism, with the most significant losses in the years 2008, 2009, and 2023. The police reported 172 martyrs in 2008, 210 in 2009, and 188 in 2023, underscoring the intense challenges faced by law enforcement in combating militancy in the province.
\nIn an official statement the spokesperson for the provincial police force stated that the KP police department\u2019s dedication to protecting the lives and property of the public.
\n\u201cOur martyrs are our identity and pride, and we will continue their mission with unwavering resolve,\u201d he said.
\nIn recognition of the sacrifices made, the government has implemented a Martyrs Package aimed at providing financial and moral support to the families of fallen officers. This initiative reflects a commitment to honor the memory of those who gave their lives defending the country.
\nThe KP Police stands united in remembrance and resolve, continuing the legacy of their heroes in service to the nation, he added.
\nMeanwhile, a report related to operations carried out by the force stated that security forces have killed a total of 892 terrorists, including 24 of the most wanted and dangerous commanders, during operations across various districts of KP and its tribal areas over the past seven months.
\nAccording to an official report, January witnessed 142 terrorists killed in intelligence-led operations, with 10 of them being high-profile commanders wanted in multiple terrorism cases. In February, 157 terrorists, including 14 commanders, were neutralized in coordinated actions across the region. March saw 133 terrorists, among them 14 commanders, eliminated by security forces.
\nIn April, operations resulted in the killing of 163 militants, including 12 key terrorists. The month of May recorded 88 terrorists killed in the Hangu district, while June witnessed a total of 96 terrorists eliminated. July concluded the period with 113 terrorists killed.
