\nThe Senate Standing Committee on Science & Technology visited the National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) on September 24. The delegation was led by the Committee\u2019s Chairman, Senator, Kamil Ali Agha and included Senator, Afnan Ullah Khan, Senator. Nadeem Ahmed Bhutto, Senator. Muhammad Aslam Abro and Senator. Husna Bano. The senators reviewed the university\u2019s knowledge ecosystem, initiatives and accomplishments. The broad-based dialogue revolved around the role of higher education in driving innovation and national development, with a focus on expanding access, improving quality and aligning academic outcomes with national priorities.
\nThe Senate Standing Committee also visited the National Science & Technology Park (NSTP), receiving a briefing on NUST\u2019s innovation-driven ecosystem and its contributions in fields such as AI, agritech and fintech.
\nRector NUST, Dr. Muhammad Zahid Latif, expressed that \u201cthis visit marks the beginning of a new dawn, one that opens avenues for deeper patronage from the Senate and together we can take it further from here.\u201d He stressed that while NUST continues to deliver its best, no university can propel forward without sustained government support and investment in cutting-edge technologies. The dialogue also highlighted the importance of bringing students from underdeveloped and geographically remote part of Pakistan into the mainstream of higher education to reduce economic disparities and promote harmony at national level. In this context, the senators welcomed NUST\u2019s commitment to its Balochistan campus, describing it as a bridge of opportunity for national integration and Peace through Education.
