\nCivil Society Islamabad organized a protest demonstration in front of the National Press Club on Friday to express solidarity with the Global Samood Flotilla and the people of Gaza. The gathering drew citizens from diverse backgrounds, including human rights activists, students, media professionals, and members of civil society.
\nThe demonstration was led by Dr. Abdul Salam, a representative of Civil Society Islamabad, who addressed the participants and voiced strong support for the people of Palestine. Demonstrators raised slogans in favor of Palestinian rights and condemned Israeli aggression.
\nSpeaking at the protest, Dr. Salam urged the Government of Pakistan, the international community, and particularly the leadership of Muslim countries to take immediate and decisive action to safeguard the flotilla from possible threats. He stressed that the Global Resistance Flotilla is not a political maneuver but a humanitarian initiative \u2014 a \u201clast ray of hope\u201d for the starving, wounded, and sick people of Gaza. The flotilla is carrying essential supplies, including baby milk, drinking water, food, medicines, and other necessities,\u201d Dr. Salam said. \u201cThese brave human rights activists from 44 countries are risking their lives in the face of serious threats and attacks. The global community, especially Muslim leadership, must rise to support them and ensure their protection against Israeli aggression. Dr. Salam also praised the governments of Italy and Spain for deploying ships to provide rescue services in emergencies near the flotilla.
