MITHI: Twenty-eight low-grade employees of the Mithi Municipal Committee, recruited in 2008, have yet to be regularised despite clear directives from the Sindh High Court. The workers said they had been serving for 18 years on low wages without job security. They recalled that the Sindh High Court had ordered their regularisation, after which a scrutiny committee headed by the deputy commissioner also recommended confirming their services. However, they lamented that even after the court\u2019s ruling and the committee\u2019s recommendations, the authorities had failed to act. They pointed out that many junior employees appointed after them had already been regularised, while their own case was being \u201cdeliberately ignored.\u201d The employees said they have now filed a contempt of court petition, arguing that years of continuous service entitle them to permanent status and all related benefits.
