\nThe Elementary and Secondary Education Foundation has officially launched its Virtual School initiative, aimed at addressing the shortage of teachers and improving access to quality education across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. A formal launch ceremony was held at Government Higher Secondary School Hayatabad, Peshawar, with Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah as the chief guest, A handout said.
\nAlso in attendance were the Secretary of the Elementary and Secondary Education Department, education officials, and sector experts.
\nManaging Director of the Foundation, Qaiser Alam, briefed the media, describing the Foundation Virtual School as a pioneering government initiative. The project will provide online classes for critical subjects such as English, Urdu, Science, Mathematics, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry from grades VI to XII, aligning fully with the National and Provincial Curriculum.
\nInitially, 50 schools from various districts have been selected based on high enrollment and teacher shortages. These schools are being equipped with computers, LED screens, and internet facilities to support virtual learning.
\nThe Education Secretary highlighted the cost-effectiveness of the project, which utilizes existing infrastructure without the need for new construction. An online examination system and access to recorded lectures will further enhance learning opportunities. Teacher training was also underway to ensure effective implementation.
\nChief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah called the project a significant milestone, noting its potential to resolve longstanding issues such as lack of teachers in remote areas, gender disparity in education access, and high dropout rates.
\nHe expressed confidence that the model will be expanded province-wide, contributing to improved literacy rates through efficient use of resources.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
