\nArts Council of Pakistan Karachi\u2019s Fine Art Committee organised a tribute ceremony in honour of the renowned artist Musarrat Mirza at the Josh Malihabadi Library. President Arts Council, Mohammad Ahmed Shah, graced the occasion as the chief guest and presented a shield to Musarrat Mirza in recognition of her outstanding services to the field of art.
\nProminent writer Noorul Huda Shah, artists Mehr Afroze, Noorjehan Bilgrami, Amra Ali, and Dr Marhab Qasmi also addressed the gathering. The event was attended by a large number of artists and art enthusiasts, including Chairman Fine Art Committee, Farrukh Tanveer Shahab, while the event was moderated by Nusrat Khwaja.
\nJoint Secretary of the Arts Council and noted writer Noorul Huda Shah said, \u201cIt gives me immense joy to see the Arts Council acknowledging and celebrating the services of artists and literary figures. Art and culture are the essence and pride of Sindh, and I congratulate the Arts Council for this wonderful initiative.\u201d
\nArtist Noorjehan Bilgrami expressed that she had always been inspired by Musarrat Mirza\u2019s work, saying, \u201cHer art speaks for itself \u2014 it defines who she is.\u201d
\nMehr Afroze remarked, \u201cWhen you stand before Musarrat\u2019s paintings, you don\u2019t feel like moving away. Her work radiates energy \u2014 an energy born of love. She never painted for exhibitions but delved deep into her creations; there\u2019s a profound silence in her art.\u201d
\nRenowned artist Salima Hashmi, speaking via video link, said, \u201cMusarrat Mirza is one of the most significant artists of our time. Her paintings are quiet yet profound \u2014 they speak in their own language. I believe no one has created works quite like hers.\u201d
\nDr Marhab Qasmi added, \u201cMusarrat\u2019s art reflects the essence of Sukkur \u2014 a city she deeply loves. Her paintings truly speak; I am proud to have some of them in my own home.\u201d
\nCurator and critic Amra Ali shared her thoughts, saying, \u201cThere are countless dimensions to light, yet words fall short in describing them. Light, reflection, humility, and solitude are integral to Musarrat Mirza\u2019s art. Her work draws strength from the soil, land, and Sufi poetry \u2014 it\u2019s not merely painting but a reflection of deep thought and emotion.\u201d
\nExpressing her gratitude, Musarrat Mirza said, \u201cBeing an artist is no big achievement; those whom you call artists are simply humble souls. Artists are like flowers \u2014 delicate and transient. Creation belongs only to the Divine; we humans are mere instruments of expression.
\nI don\u2019t consider myself a great painter \u2014 I simply paint what I see in nature. The journey of an artist is one of constant search. Art never ends; it\u2019s an eternal pursuit.
