Trump US President Donald Trump, while en route to attend a historic Middle East \u2018peace summit\u2019 in Egypt, pledged Sunday to solve the latest escalation between Afghanistan and Pakistan, proclaiming that he is good at solving wars.
\n\u201cThis will be my eighth war that I\u2019ve solved, and I hear there\u2019s a war now going on between Pakistan and Afghanistan,\u201d Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One while on his way to Israel \u2014 referring to the Gaza ceasefire as his eight.
\n\u201cI said I\u2019ll have to wait till I get back. I\u2019m doing another one. Because I\u2019m good at solving wars, I\u2019m good at making peace, and it\u2019s an honour to do it. I saved millions of lives, millions of lives,\u201d he added.
\nDeadly border clashes between Pakistan and Afghanistan started late on Saturday night and continued into Sunday morning. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that 23 troops were martyred and 200 Taliban and affiliated terrorists were killed when Islamabad responded to aggression by Kabul.
\n\u201cBecause I am good at solving wars\u2026Think about India, Pakistan. Think about some of the wars that were going on for years. We had one going for 31, one going for 32, one going for 37 years, with millions of people being killed in every country, and I got every one of those done, for the most part, within a day. It\u2019s pretty good.\u201d
\nHis remarks position the US leader as a leading figure in resolving complex international disputes.
\nAs regards the Nobel peace prize being awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, Trump said: \u201cIn all fairness to the Nobel committee, it was for 2024 \u2026 But there are those that say you could make an exception cause a lot of things happened during 2025 that are done and completed and great.
\n\u201cBut I did this not for Nobel, I did this for saving lives,\u201d he added.
\nOn Monday, Trump will land in Israel, where he is expected to meet with families of hostages and address the Knesset (Parliament).
\nHe will later head to Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, where he will join world leaders at a peace summit on Monday.
\nThe summit, co-chaired by Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, aims \u201cto end the war in the Gaza Strip, enhance efforts to bring peace and stability to the Middle East and usher in a new phase of regional security and stability,\u201d according to Egyptian presidency.
\nMeanwhile, the United Nations said in New York that UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was on way to Egypt to join leaders from more than 20 countries at the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
