\nPESHAWAR
\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is moving forward with a comprehensive electric vehicle reform initiative, with the first phase focusing on the introduction of electric rickshaws and electric taxis across the province.
\nThe decision was discussed during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah.
\nHe stated that a framework would soon be developed to support the implementation of these reforms, which aim to reduce environmental pollution and promote local employment through sustainable transportation solutions.
\nThe meeting, attended by administrative secretaries and senior government officials, also included participation from deputy commissioners via video link.
\nDuring the session, the Director of the Performance Management and Reforms Unit (PMRU) gave a briefing on anti-encroachment operations being carried out across the province.
\nHe informed the participants that, on the instructions of the Chief Secretary, a digital dashboard has been created to monitor the progress of these operations. Updates provided by the deputy commissioners revealed that significant areas of state land have been reclaimed, including 64 kanals in Peshawar, 32 kanals in Mardan, 120 kanals in Bannu, 40 kanals in Abbottabad, 39 kanals in Haripur, 437 kanals in Charsadda, and 47 kanals in Tank. The Chief Secretary directed that these operations should continue without discrimination to protect public land from illegal occupation.
\nThe meeting also reviewed ongoing uplift projects in the provincial capital.
\nThe Director General of the Peshawar Development Authority informed the participants that work on the new Peshawar General Bus Stand has commenced in night shifts and that the grey structure of the project is expected to be completed by October 31.
\nThe project is expected to significantly alleviate traffic congestion in Peshawar. He also mentioned that memorandums of understanding are being signed with the private sector under corporate social responsibility initiatives to support beautification efforts in the city.
\nWork has started on projects related to road furniture, horticulture, and overall beautification along GT Road and Ring Road.
\nProgress on other major development projects under the Public-Private Partnership model was also discussed, including the Thandiani Tourism Project, the Ghanol Integrated Tourism Zone, and the Dharaban Economic Zone.
