\nAs life in Islamabad and Rawalpindi returned to normal after the police crackdown on Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) protesters who were marching towards federal capital, the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) have traced TLP chief Saad Hussain Rizvi and leader Anas Rizvi, the sources said on Tuesday.
\nNoting that the leaders will be \u201carrested soon\u201d, sources said leaders should immediately surrendered themselves to the LEAs so that they can be given due medical attention. \u201cNothing can be said about the injuries of Saad [Rizvi] and Anas [Rizvi] at this time,\u201d the sources added.
\nThe TLP\u2019s protest had intensified as TLP workers insisted on continuing their march, citing similar demonstrations in Europe. At the heart of the crackdown was Muridke \u2014 the flashpoint of the confrontation. A case was registered there, with police alleging that a rifle found with TLP leader Anas Rizvi was used for firing rounds during the protests.
\nDespite social media claims of \u201cnumerous casualties,\u201d hospital sources reported few admissions. According to the police report, three people \u2014 a TLP worker, a bystander, and a police officer \u2014 were confirmed dead. Other claims remain unverified, with officials describing the higher figures circulated online as \u201cexaggerated.\u201d Speculation swirled about the whereabouts of TLP chief Saad Rizvi and other senior leaders. During negotiations with the government, the TLP delegation included Shafique Amini, Ghous Baghdadi, and Faizi, who met Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, Punjab IG Usman Anwar, and Allama Tahir Ashrafi, among others. The protest sit-in at Muridke was eventually brought to an end through a successful operation on Sunday night, after which the GT Road was cleared and reopened for regular traffic.
\nPunjab police \u2018strike gold\u2019
\nPunjab Police have recovered a substantial quantity of gold, cash, and foreign currency during a raid at the residence of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan chief Saad Rizvi, officials confirmed on Tuesday.
\nAccording to a spokesperson for the Punjab Police, the operation, conducted in coordination with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), led to the recovery of millions of rupees in cash including foreign currency and jewellery.
\nAuthorities stated that police recovered Rs144.4 million in Pakistani currency, along with gold and jewellery valued at over Rs63.4 million. The recovery included 1,922 grams of gold in the form of rings, bracelets, chains, lockets, bangles, and other items.
\nAuthorities also recovered 898 grams of silver, luxury watches and other valuables.
\nIn addition, law enforcement officials confiscated foreign currency equivalent to more than Rs2.5 million, including Indian rupees, pound sterling, Canadian dollars, Saudi riyeals and UAE dirhams.
