Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa visited the T-Chowk Flyover Project site on Monday to review ongoing construction activities and inspect various sections of the project.
\nDuring the visit, CDA officials, consultants, resident engineers, and the project director briefed the Chairman on the project\u2019s progress.
\nThey informed him that, under the directions of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, construction work on the T-Chowk Flyover is continuing at a fast pace, with around 49 per cent of the project already completed.<\/p>\n
According to the briefing, pile caps and girder casting have been fully completed (100%), while retaining wall construction has reached 60 per cent. Work on transoms has also commenced. Despite ongoing construction, traffic flow on the site remains smooth and uninterrupted.<\/p>\n
The officials assured the Chairman that the project is being executed round the clock (24\/7) and will be completed within the stipulated timeline.
\nExpressing satisfaction over the project\u2019s progress, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed that the project should be planned comprehensively, keeping in view future expansion of the GT Road.
\nHe emphasised that no compromise on quality would be tolerated and the project must be completed strictly according to its set timeline.
\nThe Chairman instructed officials to install surveillance cameras at the project\u2019s entry points to ensure public safety and monitoring, and also directed the preparation of a beautification plan featuring LED lighting, digital screens, and landscaping on a permanent basis.
\nHighlighting the importance of the project, Randhawa said the T-Chowk Flyover would benefit not only the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi but also travellers coming from Lahore and other parts of Punjab.
\nHe added that its completion would provide a signal-free corridor for traffic entering Islamabad from GT Road.
