PESHAWAR
\nThe newly elected Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, chaired his first formal meeting on Monday at the Chief Minister\u2019s Secretariat and took important decisions for effective implementation of good governance\u2019s roadmap and strengthening of security besides anti corruption measures.
\nThe meeting reviewed progress on the provincial government\u2019s good governance roadmap, the law and order situation, and anti-corruption measures in detail.
\nThe meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, Additional Chief Secretaries, relevant administrative secretaries, and senior police officials. All Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, RPOs, and DPOs participated via video link. Officials briefed the Chief Minister on various aspects of the good governance roadmap, explaining that its primary objective is to improve public service delivery.
\nThe roadmap focuses on three main areas such as public service delivery, law and order, and the economy, with dedicated action plans prepared for each department.
\nThe Chief Minister was also briefed in detail on the province\u2019s security situation, terror incidents and contributing factors, implementation of the Provincial Action Plan, and ongoing and future measures to strengthen the police force.
\nIn his remarks, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi lauded the bureaucracy for upholding the province\u2019s distinct traditions and values, expressing hope they would continue to do so. The Chief Minister, however, regretted that some officials had failed to withstand pressure and did not protect the public mandate. He directed the Chief Secretary to identify and take strict action against such individuals.
\nAfridi reaffirmed that PTI governs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a strong commitment for people services and it is the duty of the civil administration to implement the ruling party\u2019s agenda.
\nHe declared zero tolerance for corruption, emphasizing that anyone found involved in corruption would face strict action. He stressed that all government officials are public servants, adding that if citizens are dissatisfied with any officer, that officer will not retain their position.
\n\u201cI have not come to govern in the traditional way. We must work differently so that people feel their vote for PTI has truly brought change,\u201d he said.
\nThe Chief Minister announced the establishment of a Tribal Medical College and a Tribal University of Modern Sciences, with campuses across all merged districts.
\nHe announced the construction of playgrounds at the tehsil level in merged areas, a Safe City Project for the merged districts, and the establishment of the Shaheed Arshad Sharif University of Investigative and Modern Journalism.
\nHe directed preparations for a Peshawar Revival and Development Plan. Sohail Afridi instructed authorities to integrate the E-PAD system with the provincial e-tendering mechanism, and to develop a conceptual examination system to end rota learning.
\nHe directed that the two-year posting and transfer policy be strictly enforced, eliminating recommendation culture, and ensuring merit and transparency in all administrative matters.
\n\u201cI will make tough decisions to implement our party\u2019s agenda, and they must be enforced,\u201d he said, adding that no political figure would be arrested under Section 3 of the MPO, and no political FIRs would be registered for revenge.
\nHe stressed that freedom of expression and constructive criticism are constitutional rights, and that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa\u2019s unique political culture would be protected.
\nPlacing law and order at the top of his government\u2019s priorities, the Chief Minister assured that no compromise would be made on security.
\nHe pledged to provide all necessary funds and resources to the police, modernize the force, and equip it with advanced weapons and technology.
\nHe paid tribute to the martyrs of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, praying for the elevation of their ranks in heaven and patience for their families.
\nFor decades, KP Police have made unmatched sacrifices in the war against terrorism.
\nHe directed that no student be booked in FIRs, and no citizen be targeted. Torture in prisons would not be tolerated. While reiterating that there would be no political interference in police matters, he stressed that public complaints against the police must also be eliminated.
\nThe Chief Minister instructed that special housing enclaves be established for police personnel and media professionals in provincial government housing schemes.
