PESHAWAR: The Accountability Court has extended the physical remand of Abdul Basit, the frontman of the main accused in the Upper Kohistan financial scandal, for another five days. According to official sources on Monday, Abdul Basit was produced before the Accountability Court, where NAB\u2019s Special Prosecutor Habibullah Baig and the investigating officer were also present. Judge Hamid Mughal approved the extension in remand, citing ongoing investigations. Abdul Basit, who served as a junior clerk in the C W (Communication and Works) Department, was found to be the frontman of the main accused, Qaiser Iqbal. Investigators revealed that through Basit, Qaiser Iqbal carried out financial transactions worth 700 million rupees across various accounts. Transaction records and related evidence were also recovered from Basit\u2019s possession. In addition, gold worth millions of rupees, luxury vehicles and other valuables were seized from the accused\u2019s residence. The investigating officer informed the court that Basit made further disclosures during interrogation and the investigation is still underway.
