\nDirector General National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) and PARD\/PPSA Captain (Retd) Usman Gul has said that tree plantation is a positive step to reduce the impacts of climate change in the country.
\nHe said that urban plantation must be given top priority to make cities environment friendly. He was addressing trainee officers, staff and faculty members of the three training institutes on the eve of Tree Plantation Campaign here NIPA Campus Peshawar on Wednesday.
\nThe ceremony was attended by chief instructors and faculty members of the three training institutes, participants of Senior Management Course, DS MCMC, Assistant Executive Engineers of KP and GB.
\nThe Director General further said that planting more trees is not only the responsibility of the government, but every citizen should shoulder this responsibility to plant more trees and join government efforts for tree plantation. He said that Pakistan is among the top 10 countries which is adversely impacted by climate change although we have no contribution to global warming and emission of greenhouse gases. He said that if we fail to plant more trees and adopt green energy sources, we will face further severe consequences in future.
\nHe urged the trainee officers to sensitize their own organizations and engage civil society to plant more trees in future. He said that 350 trees will be planted in the ongoing campaign adding that during his tenure as Director General NIPA\/PARD\/PPSA, he added more than 3000 trees to the campus bringing the total plants population to 7000 from 4000 in the past few years.
