\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Advisor Muzzammil Aslam has criticized the federal government\u2019s economic policies, saying that instead of cutting its own expenses, the government is reducing funds for provinces. He was speaking at a press conference at the KP House in Islamabad.
\nAslam expressed disappointment over the federal government\u2019s proposal for the 27th Constitutional Amendment without convening the 11th National Finance Commission (NFC) meeting. He said that the federal government\u2019s claim that provinces receive 41.5% share under the NFC is false, as the federation retains Rs 5,147 billion in non-tax revenue.
\nThe advisor pointed out that the federal government\u2019s expenditure is Rs. 17,593 billion, with only Rs1,000 billion allocated for development projects. He questioned how economic improvement can be expected when the government plans to reduce the development budget by Rs 300 billion.
\nAslam also highlighted that the federal government\u2019s debt servicing consumes a significant portion of its funds, with Rs 8,207 billion going towards interest payments. He criticized the government\u2019s flawed policies, saying that the country has paid Rs 5,100 billion due to a wrong decision regarding IPPs.
