\nPESHAWAR
\nA one-day seminar titled \u201cNational Narrative on Population Balance\u201d was organized at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU), Peshawar, under the UNFPA Work Plan 2025.
\nThe event was attended by Prof. Dr. Sofia Ahmad (T.I.), Vice Chancellor SBBWU, university students, faculty members, academicians, and officers from the Population Welfare Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
\nThe Chief Guest, Mr. Rehan Gul Khattak, Director General, Population Welfare Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, emphasized that \u201cTawazun\u201d (Balance) is not merely a policy framework but a shared national responsibility. He stated that effective population management leads to better health outcomes, economic progress, and improved quality of life for future generations.
\nMr. Khattak urged educational institutions to play their role in promoting informed and responsible decision-making among youth, adding that sustainable development is achievable only through collective efforts, strong partnerships, and the active participation of young people.
\nEarlier, Ms. Kausar Jabeen, Deputy Director (PC & T), delivered a detailed presentation on the Tawazun narrative, highlighting that the initiative aims to establish a balance between population growth and socio-economic resources to ensure sustainable national development. She stressed the importance of responsible parenting, informed choices, and community awareness.
\nDr. Shahinda, VMO RHSC-AHMC, presented a data-driven analysis on Peshawar\u2019s demographic trends, emphasizing the need to understand population dynamics for effective planning, policymaking, and resource allocation.
\nAt the conclusion of the event, Mr. Rehan Gul Khattak conveyed the appreciation of Dr. Anila Mahboob Durrani, Secretary, Population Welfare Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to the university administration, faculty, students, and organizers for their active support and collaboration on this important national agenda.
\nIn her closing remarks, Prof. Dr. Sofia Ahmad (T.I.), Vice Chancellor, thanked the Population Welfare Department and UNFPA for choosing the university as a platform to raise awareness on such a vital national issue.
