\n PESHAWAR
\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government, Mina Khan Afridi, has directed the formulation of a comprehensive reform strategy to enhance the administrative, financial, and developmental performance of local bodies across the province.
\nChairing a review meeting of the Local Council Board and the Directorate General of Local Government, the minister reviewed the overall performance, service delivery mechanisms, and administrative affairs of the department.
\nThe meeting was attended by Secretary Local Government Aslam Saqib Raza, Secretary Local Council Board, Director General Local Government, and senior officials from various Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs).
\nOfficials briefed the minister on different administrative, financial, and operational matters concerning the local government system.
\nSpeaking on the occasion, Mina Khan Afridi said that the Local Government Department plays a key role in delivering essential civic services and ensuring good governance at the grassroots level.
\nHe stressed that transparency, efficiency, and public trust must remain the guiding principles of local government operations.
\nThe minister instructed concerned authorities to develop and implement a comprehensive reform plan aimed at improving governance structures, enhancing accountability, and expediting developmental projects within local bodies.
\nAfridi emphasized that strengthening the role of TMAs is essential for effective service delivery and addressing public needs promptly.
\nHe directed all local bodies to submit regular performance reports to ensure close monitoring of progress and timely evaluation of reforms.
\nReaffirming the provincial government\u2019s commitment, Mina Khan Afridi said that every possible measure will be taken to make local bodies active, autonomous, and people-friendly.
