\nPESHAWAR
\nKhyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Monday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Federal Constabulary (FC) Headquarters in Peshawar, terming it a \u201ccowardly and deplorable act\u201d.
\nHe sought an immediate report from the provincial police chief and vowed that all resources would be utilised to bring those behind the attack to justice.
\nThe chief minister said the FC personnel had bravely averted a major tragedy, proving that Pakistan\u2019s security forces were prepared to face any challenge in defence of the country.
\n\u201cTerrorists have no religion, and such cowardly attacks cannot weaken our resolve or morale,\u201d he remarked.
\nPaying tribute to the martyred personnel, Afridi said their sacrifices were a source of pride for the nation and assured that their blood would not go in vain.
\nHe prayed for the elevation of their ranks and for patience for their families, adding that the provincial government stood firmly with the bereaved families.
\nFollowing the incident, the chief minister visited Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, where he met each of the injured personnel, inquired after their health and reviewed the treatment arrangements.
\nHe directed the hospital administration to provide the best possible medical care and ensure no negligence occurred.
\nSpeaking to the media during the visit, Afridi said the attack was \u201chighly condemnable\u201d and that terrorists were the common enemy of both the province and the country.
\n\u201cThey want to disrupt the peace of the province and Pakistan, but we will not allow their designs to succeed,\u201d he said.
\nResponding to a question, the chief minister said the government was in the process of equipping the police with modern technology, bulletproof vehicles and advanced equipment.
\n\u201cOrders for modern gear have been placed, and bulletproof vehicles have already arrived,\u201d he added, noting that efforts were also underway to enhance the professional capabilities of the police through modern training and improved resources.
\nLater, Afridi attended the funeral prayers of the martyred personnel and paid homage to them. He said the sacrifices of these \u201cbrave sons\u201d strengthened the province\u2019s resolve in the fight against terrorism, reaffirming that the government stood with the families of the martyrs at every step.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
