Interactive Workshop on Professional Ethics, Plantation Drive Awards, and Key Consultative Session with Young Engineers

\nThe Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Engr Waseem Nazir paid the first-ever official visit to Gilgit-Baltistan and presided over a significant interactive workshop at Karakoram International University (KIU), Gilgit, on the theme of \u201cProfessional Ethics and Accountability in Engineering Practice.\u201d The Chairman PEC Engr Waseem Nazir himself participated as the resource person, adding immense value to the workshop.
\nA large number of engineers, young professionals, freelancers, and engineering experts from various districts of Gilgit-Baltistan attended the workshop, while Prof. Dr. Attaullah Shah (Vice Chancellor, KIU), Prof. Dr. Khan Gul Jadoon (Department of Mining Engineering), and faculty members of the engineering departments were also present.
\nIn his address, the Chairman PEC Engr Waseem Nazir emphasized that technical competence alone is not sufficient for professional success. He stressed that ethical principles, integrity, and a strong accountability framework are essential for maintaining public trust in the engineering profession. He highlighted that PEC not only performs a regulatory role but is also committed to promoting professional values and ensuring strong engineering discipline across the country.
\nFollowing the workshop, an award ceremony for the PEC Plantation Drive 2025 (Gilgit-Baltistan Region) was held to honor the engineers who excelled in PEC\u2019s first national plantation and photography campaign (14\u201331 August 2025). The Chairman PEC Engr Waseem Nazir awarded certificates of appreciation and cash prizes to the top five engineers from Gilgit-Baltistan \u2014 Engineer Ghulam Nasir, Engineer Intisar-ul-Haq, Engineer Abdul Hakeem, Engineer Afaq Ahmad Dar, and Engineer Asif Ullah.
\nLater, the Chairman PEC held a formal interactive session with young engineers from Gilgit-Baltistan. The participants presented their issues, suggestions, and region-specific challenges. The Chairman assured full cooperation in addressing the concerns and stated that PEC is taking concrete measures to improve professional standards and facilities for engineers across all regions of Pakistan, including Gilgit-Baltistan.
