\nFederal Minister for Information Technology and Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja on Tuesday issued a message on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, calling violence against women a serious social and human injustice that requires strong and continued attention.
\nShe expressed solidarity with every woman and girl in Pakistan, reaffirming that their safety and dignity remain central to the country\u2019s development goals. The minister highlighted that real empowerment can only be achieved when women have access to education, digital skills and economic opportunities.

\nShe pointed to the rise in online harassment, blackmail and hateful behaviour, stressing that digital spaces must not become barriers for women. According to her, these trends demand immediate and organized responses from authorities, communities and technology stakeholders.
\nThe minister said that creating a safe digital environment for young women and girls is a top priority. She emphasized that technology can only support progress when women are confident that the digital world is safe and accessible to them.
\nShe added that opening pathways for women in technology is an essential pillar for Pakistan\u2019s digital future, as broader participation leads to stronger and more inclusive development. \nShe said their courage encourages others to come forward and helps build awareness about the challenges women face in online spaces. The minister reiterated that Pakistan will continue efforts to protect women\u2019s rights and eliminate all forms of gender-based violence.
