While those who are raising the slogan of respecting the vote want the chairman to be elected through the votes of councilors instead of the votes of the people, this action of the rulers will increase horse trading and undermine the faith and conscience of the local government representatives of Punjab. Therefore, we want to ask the rulers not to disrupt the political process. They should hold local government elections on time, on party lines and elect the chairman through the votes of the people.
\nTransferring powers to the grassroots level on a genuine basis is the system of basic democracy and it is not right to obstruct it, he expressed these views while addressing a press conference at the office of Jamaat-e-Islami Gujarat.
