CM aide claims KP govt completed 63MW projects with annual income of Rs4.4bln

\nSpecial Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan has said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is rapidly moving towards self-sufficiency in the energy sector due to concrete and result-oriented policies of the provincial government.
\nIn a statement issued here on Thursday, he said that during the current year the provincial government, through the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO) has completed three hydroelectric power projects with a total capacity of 63 megawatts using its own resources.
\nThese projects, he added, are expected to generate an annual income of Rs4.4 billion for the provincial government.
\nShafi Jan said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, the provincial government was ahead of other provinces in terms of governance and development.
\n\u201cIn line with the vision of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founding chairman Imran Khan, historic initiatives were being taken in the energy sector,\u201d he added. He said the completed projects include the 40.8 MW Kotodir project, 11.8 MW Karora Shangla project and 10.2 MW Jabori Mansehra project. Besides, work is underway on several small hydropower schemes to provide affordable and uninterrupted electricity to local communities.
\nCriticizing other provinces, he said that while they were limited to announcements, the PTI-led government in KP believed in practical implementation, which was why revolutionary steps had been taken in the energy sector. He added that a 40-kilometre transmission line from Mittaltan to Madin was also under construction, which would help supply affordable electricity to industries.
\nShafi Jan said that a democratically elected PTI government was in place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a clear public mandate.
\nHe added that if the federation intended to impose Governor\u2019s Rule, it should do so openly, but it must accept the reality that the provincial government was functioning on the basis of public support. He alleged that the federal and Punjab governments were preventing the Chief Minister from meeting PTI founding chairman Imran Khan in jail despite court orders.
\nShafi Jan said that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi had visited Adiala Jail on ten occasions under court directives but was not allowed to meet Imran Khan each time.
\nThe Punjab government and the Adiala Jail administration were disregarding the Constitution, law and clear court orders, which reflected political victimization and what he described as \u201copen fascism.\u201d
\nHe further alleged that Imran Khan had been unlawfully imprisoned due to political vendetta, and the use of force, including water cannons, against his sisters, lawyers and party leaders outside Adiala Jail was a clear violation of human rights.
\nCriticizing the federal government, Shafi Jan said that the PML-N had deprived the people of their right to vote through rigging and, as a result of corruption and poor governance, had lost its public support.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
