\nThe Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly\u2019s Standing Committee on Health expressed profound grief over the tragic killing of Dr. Warda and unanimously called on the Chief Minister to provide fair and appropriate financial compensation to her family.
\nThe meeting of the committee held here on Friday with Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, Member of the Provincial Assembly in the chair, a handout said.
\nThe meeting was attended by committee members, including Sobia Shahid, Suresh Kumar, Aurangzeb Khan, Asker Pervez, Ijaz Khan, Ikram Ghazi, Rehana Ismail, Sher Ali Afridi, Hamidur Rehman, and Adnan Khan, along with senior officials from the Health Department, PHSA, KMU, the Law and Finance Departments, and district representatives.
\nThe committee reviewed several key issues, including the suo motu action initiated by Deputy Speaker Suraiya Bibi.
\nOfficials confirmed that vacant posts of allied health staff would be filled soon.
\nRegarding Category C Hospital Boni, the Special Secretary Health announced the appointment of a gynecologist by December, while the DHO Upper Chitral confirmed the availability of necessary medicines and equipment. The upgradation of the hospital will be discussed with the CPO, and a report will be submitted to the next committee meeting and the Deputy Speaker\u2019s office.
\nOn RHC Shagram, the Special Secretary Health promised to provide a final report at the next meeting. The committee also discussed the establishment of a nursing college in Upper Chitral, with the DC Upper Chitral confirming ongoing follow-ups and DG PHSA assuring swift arrangements for a rented building.
\nThe meeting addressed obstacles in health development projects in erstwhile FATA districts, vacant paramedical posts, minority quotas, and other attention notices. The Health Department confirmed that vacant paramedical posts will be filled through promotions, and the provincial cabinet has approved a two percent minority quota.
\nAn inquiry was ordered regarding a notice filed by MLA Aurangzeb Khan against a DPO, with a sub-committee formed to submit a report within 15 days. On the suspended MS of Satellite Hospital Naqi, the Health Secretary confirmed an ongoing departmental inquiry and upcoming transfer. The shortage of ultrasound specialists was also discussed, with recruitment advertisements already published.
