\nThe Punjab Agriculture Department has issued December guidelines for the care of citrus and guava orchards.
\nA department spokesperson advised growers to prune diseased, dry, and unnecessary branches of citrus trees. Harvesting of kinnow and \u201cmusami\u201d should continue, while pruning of harvested trees must be done with sharp tools. Farmers were urged to apply balanced chemical fertilizers in consultation with local agriculture experts and to add well-rotted farmyard manure during December.
\nTo control termite infestation, growers were advised to carry out soil hoeing and apply recommended pesticides. The spokesperson further said young guava plants should be protected from frost. Frost-affected branches should not be pruned until the risk of frost has completely passed.
