PESHAWAR
\nForty-three employees recruited from various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into the Transport Department in 2018 have demanded that the provincial government reinstate them to their posts, stating that contradictory government actions have deprived them of their livelihoods.
\nAddressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) on Monday, employees including Attaullah Khan Wazir, Hasher Khan, Shafqat Hussain, Muhammad Asad, Gul Zaman, Fazaldad Khan, and Shad Muhammad Khan said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had passed an act in 2022 to regularize their services.
\nHowever, the same act was later abolished in 2025, resulting in the termination of 43 employees, many of whom belong to remote areas of the province.
\nThey said that despite performing their duties regularly and being on permanent assignments, sudden policy changes rendered them jobless, pushing their families into severe financial hardship.
\nThe affected employees stated that they approached the courts for justice, and the Supreme Court of Pakistan issued clear orders directing the provincial government to reinstate them within three months.
\nHowever, they alleged that more than a year has passed and the provincial government has failed to implement the Supreme Court\u2019s orders. \u201cIt is beyond comprehension that while we were fulfilling our official duties, the sword of unemployment was suddenly placed over our heads,\u201d said Attaullah Khan Wazir.
\nThe employees appealed to Chief Minister Sohail Khan Afridi to take immediate notice of their case and order their reinstatement in accordance with the Supreme Court\u2019s verdict. They warned that if their demands were not met within 10 days, they would stage a sit-in protest in front of Adiala Jail, followed by another sit-in outside the KP Assembly.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
