{"id":521559,"date":"2025-12-23T08:34:02","date_gmt":"2025-12-23T03:34:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/?p=521559"},"modified":"2025-12-23T08:34:02","modified_gmt":"2025-12-23T03:34:02","slug":"pcb-to-move-icc-against-provocation-by-indian-players","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/leadpakistan.com.pk\/news\/pcb-to-move-icc-against-provocation-by-indian-players\/","title":{"rendered":"PCB to move ICC against \u2018provocation\u2019 by Indian players"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Asia Cup final<br \/>\nPolitics and sports should be kept separate, says PCB Chairman<br \/>\n islamabad<br \/>\nPakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Monday announced that they would approach the International Cricket Council (ICC) over the \u201cprovocation\u201d by Indian players against Pakistan during the ACC Men\u2019s Asia Cup 2025 final.<br \/>\nThe Green Shirts crushed their arch-rivals, securing a resounding 191-run victory, in the blockbuster final at the ICC Academy on Sunday.<br \/>\nSpeaking at the reception hosted by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in honour of the Asian Under-19 champion team, PCB Chairman Naqvi said: \u201cIndian players kept provoking Pakistani players in the U19 Asia Cup final.\u201d<br \/>\n\u201cPakistan will inform the ICC about the incident,\u201d he said, adding that politics and sports should be kept separate.<br \/>\nCricketing relations between the two neighbouring countries have remained tense due to geopolitical tensions.<br \/>\nSpeaking on the occasion, Pakistan U19 cricket team mentor and former national captain Sarfaraz Ahmed criticised India over \u201cunethical conduct\u201d during the final.<br \/>\n\u201cIndia\u2019s behaviour regarding the game was not good, and the Indian team\u2019s conduct in cricket was unethical,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nSarfaraz said: \u201cBut we celebrated the victory with sportsmanship, because there should always be sportsmanship in cricket; what India did is their own action.\u201d<br \/>\nIn September, India\u2019s Suryakumar Yadav snubbed customary handshakes with Pakistani captain Salman Ali Agha and players during their three Asia Cup 2025 games, including the final.<br \/>\nThe absence of the traditional handshake at the conclusion of the matches drew global attention, with observers pointing to a lack of sportsmanship and game spirit from India.<br \/>\nThe Indian team also refused to collect the Asia Cup 2025 trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi after defeating Pakistan in the final by five wickets.
