The Chairman of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) presented the proposal, outlining potential benefits and challenges. After detailed deliberations, the committee recommended that ethanol blending should remain voluntary, given that current ethanol prices are higher than petrol prices. The policy would therefore be subject to financial viability for both refineries and ethanol manufacturers.<br \/>\nTo ensure transparency and economic feasibility, OGRA was directed to conduct quarterly reviews comparing the financial outcomes of ethanol exports versus local blending.
